I am watching a new Magic trend take shape this week. Wizards of the Coast begins the Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek debut on October 20, with new cards, mechanics, and Booster Fun treatments promised for the set. The tabletop release follows on November 13.
Magic Meets the Final Frontier: My Star Trek Preview Watch
For me, the interesting part is the cadence. The official card image gallery will be updated every weekday after previews begin, and the complete gallery arrives October 30. That makes the coming days a natural time to watch for the cards and mechanics that could matter most to collectors, Commander players, and anyone planning a new deck.
I will also keep an eye on the four Commander deck reveals: *We Are the Borg* on October 26, *Federation Fleet* on October 27, *Klingon Fury* on October 28, and *Landing Party* on October 29. Preconstructed decks often reveal the theme’s clearest building blocks, so I expect these previews to shape early conversation as much as the main set cards.
My approach is simple: enjoy the first reveals, then wait for enough of the picture to make thoughtful decisions. A full gallery is much better than a single exciting preview for deciding what I want to collect or build around.
