Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek is becoming one of the most watched Commander stories of the week. The four Commander deck previews begin October 26, starting with We Are the Borg, then Federation Fleet, Klingon Fury, and Landing Party on consecutive days. That cadence matters because it gives me a clear look at four very different ways players may enter the set, instead of treating every new card as part of one giant spoiler season.
Star Trek Commander Previews Give Every Table a Lane
The first deck is especially worth watching. The Borg Queen leads a white, blue, and black strategy built around artifact creatures and assimilating new pieces into the Collective. The current rules preview says assimilating can put a card onto the battlefield under my control with a +1/+1 counter, while turning it into a Borg artifact creature. That points toward a Commander deck that wants incremental value, flexible creatures, and a board that changes texture over a long game.
The other three decks promise very different table identities. Federation Fleet leans into legends and Spacecraft, Landing Party rewards differently named lands, and Klingon Fury pushes combat across multiple opponents. I like this spread because it makes the preview week useful whether I am looking for a ready-to-play deck, a commander for an existing brew, or simply a few cards that sharpen a favorite strategy.
For Koi Fish Cards, I see this as a good moment to follow the cards that reveal a deck's play pattern, not only the headline commanders. A small utility creature, a repeatable card-advantage engine, or a new artifact payoff can become the real reason a player updates a deck. I will be watching each reveal for those building-block cards and for the way they connect to the wider Commander card pool.
The full Commander decks release on November 13. Until then, the four-day reveal sequence is a compact trend to watch, each deck is offering a different invitation to build, trade, and play.
